No Seat Berth (NOSB)
NOSB is issued for a child aged 5 to 11 booked without a berth, at reduced fare. The child travels with you but has no berth of their own.
How NOSB works
- Indian Railways allows children in that age band to travel at half fare without a separate berth; NOSB is how that appears on the PNR.
- It is not a waitlist and it will not become confirmed — it is the final status for that passenger.
What to do about it
If you want a berth for the child, it has to be booked at full fare; NOSB cannot be upgraded later.
